Perceived Medication Volume Impacts Satisfaction in Patients with Glaucoma

Posted on

Patients with glaucoma were more satisfied with their treatment when receiving the highest volume of medication, indicating a correlation between perceived medication volume and satisfaction, according to a poster presented at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Virtual Annual Meeting.

Researchers surveyed 881 patients taking glaucoma eye drops and found that patients taking timolol, timolol/brimonidine, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors reported receiving the highest volume of medication and were the most satisfied with their treatment. Patients prescribed latanoprost, timolol, and timolol/dorzolamide considered them to be the most cost effective.

The researchers noted that side effects only had a small impact on satisfaction.
