Dave Steele is an award-winning blind poet, author, and advocate. Diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) in 2014, Steele faced unemployment and turned to social media for support. His “Stand By Me RP” song and Facebook page gained wide recognition. Steele’s three-volume book series, “Stand By Me RP,” reflects his journey, and he gained acclaim with guide dog Christopher. A prominent advocate, Steele received awards like the “Impact Award” and “Community Hero Award,” and serves as an ambassador for blindness-related causes. His work, including over 700 poems and songs, combats misconceptions about blindness and offers support to others facing sight loss.
