Identifying Dry Eye Symptoms Before Cataract Surgery
It is important to identify patient-reported dry eye symptoms prior to cataract surgery and optimize the ocular surface, noted Allison Jarstad, DO, and Marjan Farid, MD, of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute Irvine, CA recently. They pointed out that anterior segment surgeons are increasingly aiming for more precise preoperative biometry measurements, surgical finesse, and refractive outcomes. Drs Jarstad and Marjan explained their approach to identifying asymptomatic patients, diagnostic testing, the slit lamp exam, imaging, dry eye disease treatment, post-treatment, and cataract surgery.
