IOL Insertion/Toric IOLs

AT LARA 829 Trifocal IOL Assessed

Posted on

Results of a new study involving the AT LARA 829 trifocal IOL show it to have better intermediate-range visual acuity and less optical phenomena than other multifocal IOLs. The lens was assessed in 17 eyes of 10 patients. Cumulative spherical equivalent was within –0.75 D to +0.75 D in all participants. It was within –0.5 D and +0.5 D in 88% and within–0.25 D to +0.25 D in 82%. More than half had a spherical equivalent within –0.125 D to +0.125 D.

“This novel IOL design is associated with reduced optical phenomena, according to the McAlinden questionnaire results, with increased optical performance for distance and intermediate ranges,” said Florian Kretz, MD, Lead Surgeon at Eyeclinics Ahaus-Greven-Raesfeld-Rheine, Germany.
