Reuse and overnight wear amongst daily disposable (DD) soft contact lens (SCL) wearers’ was associated with select health belief constructs, according to a new study.
Convenience sampling was done on 100 DD SCL wearers between the ages of 24.2 ± 3.9 years; the majority were women (76%). Participants’ demographics, SCL use, and Health Belief Model constructs were collected.
Overall, 37% of participants reported sleeping in their DD SCLs and 25% reported reusing DD SCLs.
Reuse of DD SCLs was associated with scores on the benefits: reuse and barriers subscales, whereas sleeping in lenses was associated with scores on the susceptibility benefits: wear behaviors and barriers subscales.
