Comparative study shows OMNI TCOR procedure outperforms standard glaucoma treatments

A new study, based on real-world outcomes from over 100,000 eyes, demonstrated that the Trabeculocanalicular Outflow Restoration (TCOR) procedure powered by OMNI Surgical System technology was particularly effective in reducing intraocular pressure (IOP) in both high baseline IOP (>18 mmHg) and low baseline IOP (≤18 mmHg) patients with glaucoma.

These findings were presented at the 41ST Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

The efficacy of 3 leading minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) technologies, in conjunction with cataract surgery, was evaluated and compared to cataract surgery alone. The research encompassed a cohort of 77,391 patients with glaucoma (109,745 eyes). Among them, 6632 patients (9000 eyes) underwent a MIGS procedure alongside cataract surgery, while the remaining participants opted solely for cataract surgery.

The study’s findings revealed that the TCOR procedure led to the most significant reduction in IOP for patients with high baseline IOP (>18 mmHg). In addition, this group experienced a noteworthy decrease in medication usage. Similarly, for patients with low baseline IOP (≤18 mmHg), the TCOR procedure with OMNI technology resulted in the greatest reduction in IOP, accompanied by a statistically significant reduction in mean medication usage when compared to other treatment groups at the 24-month mark.
