Intravitreal aflibercept shows potential in peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome

Posted on

In a recent case report, the successful management of 2 cases of severe peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome (PPS) with monthly intravitreal aflibercept therapy was described.

Both cases had PPS complicated by severe bilateral macular edema. Monthly intravitreal aflibercept injections resulted in remarkable improvement or complete resolution in the diffuse intraretinal and subretinal fluid of all 4 eyes. Corresponding improvement in visual acuity was also noted.

“The significant improvement of fluid and the reduction in choroidal thickening in response to anti-VEGF therapy in each case,” was seen, the authors wrote.
