Jacob Brubaker

Jacob W. Brubaker, MD received his medical degree from McGill University. He went on to complete an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri. He completed two fellowships, one in ophthalmic pathology at the University of Utah and his glaucoma fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Brubaker chose the specialty of glaucoma because of the complexity of the disease and the challenge it presents. He is fascinated with the technological advancements made in recent years, which have made glaucoma treatment and outcomes increasingly more rewarding.  While he trained in the more traditional glaucoma surgeries, he has been involved in pioneering many of the recent advances in minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries.  In addition to glaucoma care, Dr. Brubaker specializes in cataract surgery, using the latest technology and lens options.  He believes in empowering patients through education and then tailoring therapy to meet their diverse needs.

A large supporter of clinical research, Dr. Brubaker has been a principal investigator for over 20 clinical studies, including multiple phase III trials that led to FDA approval of new glaucoma devices, medications and implants. Dr. Brubaker has an extensive list of publications, book chapters, presentations, and awards for his research.  He regularly gives lectures at the major ophthalmic meetings and serves on the ASCRS Glaucoma Clinical Committee.

Dr. Brubaker participated in an ophthalmology medical mission to Accra, Ghana as well as disaster relief following the earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He has also volunteered in Senegal, Africa and Quebec, Canada. He finds fulfillment when he can offer assistance to people who suffer from devastating circumstances.

Dr. Brubaker is married and the father of four children. He is an outdoor sports enthusiast and loves backpacking, camping, skiing, and mountain biking. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, photography, and spending time with his family. He speaks English and French.
