Are honey-related treatment strategies effective for dry eye disease?
Honey-related treatment strategies can significantly improve the signs and symptoms of patients suffering from dry eye disease (DED), according to a study.
Researchers analyzed data from 323 patients with DED who were monitored for an average follow-up period of 7.0 ± 4.2 weeks after undergoing honey-related treatment strategies for DED.
Significant improvements in Ocular Surface Disease Index, tear breakup time, Schirmer I test, and corneal staining from baseline to the last follow-up were noted. However, there were no significant differences observed in these parameters between the honey-related treatment strategies and the control groups.
