Real-world study shows significant IOP reductions with latanoprostene bunod
Latanoprostene bunod (LBN) 0.024% significantly lowered intraocular pressure in a real-world Canadian population of patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension, with the greatest benefit seen in treatment-naïve individuals, according to a study.
Data were collected from 59 ophthalmologists and 653 patients who received once-daily LBN over approximately 6 weeks. Of these, 251 were treatment-naïve, 369 switched from another therapy, and 26 added LBN to existing medications.
Across the cohort, mean IOP dropped by 16.3% from a baseline of 19.5 mmHg. The greatest benefit was seen in patients naïve to prior medical therapy without selective laser trabeculoplasty, who experienced a 29.3% reduction. Age and baseline IOP influenced outcomes in this subgroup.
Both patients and physicians reported high satisfaction with LBN.
