Change in eye color after ptosis surgery: Does this really happen?

Posted on

A change in eye color after ptosis surgery appears to be a real phenomenon that can be quantified and validated, according to data presented at the 2020 ASOPRS Virtual Meeting.

In this retrospective review, the images of 49 patients before and after blepharoptosis surgery were analyzed to calculate the average brightness and/or blueness pre-and post-operatively.

Change in eye color was noted after surgery and the authors concluded that “the average patients may expect to have a change in color that is perceived at a glance.”
