Study highlights TED’s diverse eyelid manifestations

Posted on

Eyelid retraction is the most common manifestation of thyroid eye disease (TED), requiring surgical intervention, and various effective techniques are available for its correction, according to a study.

Blepharoptosis is also common in TED, usually of an aponeurotic nature, and often necessitates surgical correction. On the other hand, entropion and epiblepharon are rare in TED and may either resolve spontaneously or respond to treatment following orbital decompression.

The study emphasizes the importance of understanding the nuances of different eyelid manifestations in TED and tailoring surgical interventions accordingly, contributing valuable insights to the field of ophthalmic surgery.
