Consider Having a “Day Zero” Conversation with Your Staff
Technician training, accountability, and educational advancement play an important role in practice performance, noted Amanda P. Mestler, COT, health center administrator at Duke University Health System, during the 2018 ASCRS Combined Ophthalmic Symposium in Austin, TX.
“Without consistent accountability, your practice stands to lose its high-performing staff, resulting in loss of teamwork, productivity and, ultimately, patient satisfaction,” said Mestler. She suggested having a “Day Zero” conversation with staff to reset expectations and establish high-accountability. She also explained the importance of designing a clinical staff productivity monitoring system and incorporating it in practice across all roles.
