DefEYE Inc launches as independent ophthalmic biologics company

Ophthalmology 360

DefEYE Inc, a privately held ophthalmic biologics company, has officially launched as an independent entity, focusing on decellularized biologic solutions for eye care, according to a press release. Previously part of Verséa Ophthalmics, the company is led by CEO Rob Sambursky, MD, and CFO Robert Glashow, supported by a commercial leadership team including Rahim Hirji, Tyler Johnson, and Rebecca Chandler.

DefEYE holds exclusive rights to the BIOVANCE franchise, including ocular and amniotic decellularized products, as well as other placenta-derived biologics with potential eye care applications.

“Our team is ready to support eye care professionals and patients managing ocular surface diseases and post-surgical recovery,” said Dr. Sambursky.
